JR Safety Crib Sheets, Inc. was founded by Charlene Reen and Marie Reen out of necessity. Marie's son and Charlene's grandson, Jimmy, died from asphyxiation due to his crib sheet wrapping around his neck. From Marie's investigations of reports from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, she became aware of many other cases of children who have died as a result of their ill-fitting crib sheets due to the lack of crib sheet regulations.

In the early days of the company, the family and friends of Marie and Charlene made the sheets by hand. Today, the company has grown so much that all sheets are professionally manufactured.
